14 Valentine’s Day Crochet Patterns Roundup

St Valentine’s patterns? Already? Do you think it is too early? I don’t think so. The most romantic time of the year is right around the corner. And what could be a better way to say “I love you” than a handmade gift? We, crafters, know more than anyone how much love it takes to create something, especially when it is targeting a specific person.

I hope that through this roundup, you will discover totally new and unique designs that will become your favorites. I tried to include a wide variety of items, toys, home decor, and accessories so that anyone could find their own way to say “I love You”! Follow the designers to support them and avoid missing out on their awesome creations in the future.

The majority of the patterns below require Yarnart Jeans yarn. It is 55% of cotton and 45% of polyacrylic, and #2 fine yarn. Even though you may use any types of yarn, Yarnart Jeans is recommended. The large amount of cotton allows the toy to hold its shape better. At the same time, since there is still some polyacrylic, the toy can be soft. USA makers can find the yarn available at the Knot One Yarn Shop on Etsy.

Let’s begin!

1. Avocados in Love

Look at these cute Avocados in love! Avocado by itself became a very trendy fruit to crochet. But Maria made it even more cute and unique by giving it a heart-shaped seed. How romantic is it to show your loved one that they own the heart which can fill in the emptiness? Someone wanted to make me a present and bought this beautiful pattern for me as a gift a while ago. Instructions are very easy to follow. I am very excited to work on it this year. The Avocados in Love pattern is available HERE.

Besides avocados, Maria has a cute Valentine’s house, which could serve as a decor or keychain. Check it out HERE. You may find other of Maria’s beautiful designs below:

2. Double Heart

This double heart, or hugging heart as I call it, is the oldest pattern I have ever bought. I purchased the pattern when I had no idea that I would fall in love with amigurumi. And I made it for my husband one year for Valentine’s day. And it was pleasing to our eyes sitting for a long time on the shelf in our bedroom. Until our kids were old enough to grab it and play with it. Now, this beautiful heart is abiding in our kids’ room. The Double Heart pattern is available HERE.

I made the heart with Caron Simply Soft. Because that’s all I had at the moment. But honestly, if you want to use worsted weight yarn, Red Heart or I Love This Yarn would be a much better fit for this pattern. Originally, this pattern requires Yarnart Jens yarn. This way it will be slightly smaller. You may use this heart as a keychain, or hang it on the rearview mirror of your car.

3. Cupid

Aw, these big beautiful eyes, like oceans… The cutest Cupid I have ever seen is designed by my favorite designer and a good friend Marina! I followed her on Instagram for a while. But our friendship started when she had a Tester Call for the English version of this pattern. The Yarnart Jeans yarn, which is originally required for this pattern is very durable. That’s why my kids are still playing with this angel for a few years now. You may also use any other type of yarn to make this Cupid, just remember It will turn out different in size. The Cupid pattern is available HERE.

Besides this Cupid, Marina also has a cute couple of elephants, their ears are designed in the shape of hearts. They would make a great Valentine’s gift as a symbol of love! If you would make two of them with worsted weight yarn and one of them with yarnart jeans, they would become a representation of a family; parents and a child! Find the pattern HERE.

4. Piggy, Froggy, and Other Animals

Look at this Piggy Angel! I love everything about it! First of all, it is made with plush yarn, which is very trendy right now. Second, it is so unique in its own way. Look at its funny cute wings and cool heart-shaped glasses. If your loved ones have a sense of humor, they will appreciate this comic cupid! It requires a plush Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn. I heard lots of got reviews about it and planning to add it to my shop. But for now the best substitute for us, US makers would be Parfait Chunky from Premier Yarns. However, If you decide to make it with fine #2 yarn such as Yarnart Jeans, then it will make a great keychain and your soulmate could hang it on the rearview mirror of the car. The Piggy pattern is available HERE.

Piggy is only one of the animals in Valentine’s Animal series Tatyana has designed. They all are so cute and fun. I am featuring Piggy, because it is my favorite. My next favorite is a Pineapple. But you may like someone else. There are Froggy, Cat, and Bear. Check out the pattern HERE.

5. Valentine’s Teddy Bear

These cute bears in my opinion are very traditional and classic Valentines! I think they are great for old-fashioned Valentine lovers, for someone like me hehe 🙂 In fact, I did purchase this pattern myself while writing this post. That’s going to be my Valentine for my husband this year. The original pattern calls for unfamiliar to me yarn, Schachenmayr ORIGINAL Catania. I have never heard of it and don’t know where to look for it. Instead, I am going to make it with my favorite Yarnart Jeans yarn. And I am sure it will make a great substitute. The Valentine’s Teddy Bear pattern is available HERE.

6. Poisoned Heart

Next, is Poisoned Heart. It is another non-traditional Valentine’s gift for a person with a good sense of humor. Or as an idea, it could be a good gift to your ex-soulmate to express the feelings and emotions you are experiencing. Honestly, this is not my kind of gift. But despite it, I really love the designer who created this unique heart. I have been following her on Instagram for a long time. She is a very sweet person. And besides creepy designs, she has lots of cute, sweet designs. The Poisoned Heart pattern is available HERE.

9. Valentine’s Gnome Pillow

Well, since we began the Home Decor topic, let’s continue it with this sweet Valentine’s Gnome. The beauty of this pattern is that it is not complicated, besides just changing color at the right time. The stitch is simple single crochet. The items are made in rows. I think it would be a great relaxation project in between complicated ones. Gnomes are extremely trendy right now. So if you are not into amigurumi or accessories, then here you go, Valentine’s Pillow idea. The Valentine’s Pillow pattern is available HERE.

11. Tulip Bouquet

Don’t you just feel so sad throwing away flowers when they die? I do. I still love to get real flowers though. However, there are some practical women who consider flowers a waste of money. Well, here is your solution. Give them flowers that will never die. And even those who love real flowers would still enjoy these ones. This everlasting bouquet will always remind them of your love! In my opinion, it will be a great gift for a mother, grandmother, teacher, etc. In this picture, the flowers are in very springy colors. But you can make this bouquet for pretty much any season. Simply change the colors and shades. I love such a universal pattern like this one that you can use for many purposes. The Tulip Bouquet pattern is available HERE.

Here is another my most favorite designer, a pure talent. I absolutely adore all of her designs. She is so genuine and unique with her creations. She has written a few books. I managed to purchase only one of them so far. Thinking about Valentine’s day roundup ofcourse I couldn’t pass on her heart-shaped waffles. In her Etsy shop you can find more romantic ideas such as chocolates, lollipops, doughnuts, etc. Again, you could decorate a table with it for Valentine’s day party. Or if you are a bad cook (like me), as a joke, you can serve your spouse with a fake romantic breakfast. Originally, the patterns calls for Yarnart Jeans yarn. And I would agree, the yarn composition is the best fit for crochet food. It holds the shape so good. But you are more than welcome to use any other types of yarn.
